Christian Discussion / Was God Trying to Tell Mel Gibson Something?
« on: April 28, 2018, 08:02:35 PM »
Not many people know that the actor who played Jesus in this film was struck by lightning the last day of filming.

Was God trying to tell Mel Gibson something? During production of his controversial film ”The Passion of Christ,” the actor he cast as Jesus was struck by lightning, Variety reports. Not only was Jim Caviezel hit, but assistant director Jan Michelini was struck twice.

In one instance, Caviezel and Michelini were together under the latter’s umbrella when they were zapped. ”I’m about a hundred feet away from them, when I glance over and see lightning coming out of Caviezel’s ears. Both Caviezel and Michelini got struck,” producer Steve McEveety said. ”The main bolt hit Caviezel and one of its forks hit Michelini’s umbrella.” Months earlier, Michelini had also been hit while carrying an umbrella, Variety reports. Neither man was hurt in the incidents.

Directed and financed by Gibson, ”Passion” has stirred controversy for months. Christian leaders and conservative pundits who’ve attended invitation-only screenings have called the movie a masterpiece and praised its fidelity to the Gospels, while such Jewish organizations as the Anti-Defamation League have expressed fears that the movie blames the Jews for Christ’s execution and will spark anti-Semitic violence. Gibson has had difficulty finding a U.S. distributor, but on Thursday, he confirmed what had been rumored for a week: that the film would be released in America on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 25) by indie studio Newmarket. The terms of the deal grant limited rights to Newmarket, the distributor behind such indie successes as ”Memento” and ”Whale Rider,” to handle the booking and promotion of ”Passion” in return for a percentage of the gross. Newmarket partner and co-founder William Tyrer told the New York Times his company was ”uniquely qualified to carefully handle” the movie’s marketing challenges, adding: ”We wouldn’t be supporting it if it was anti-Semitic.”

Don't you know that Jesus came to save the sinner not the righteous? Clearly you love the Lord God with all your heart and soul, so why do you not yet understand your King Jesus Christ, or Stephen who said while they were stoning him,  “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”? Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”. To teach Jesus one must accept Jesus and accept correction. The fear of God is only the "beginning" of wisdom my brother in Jesus. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

How can it say in the old testament, "Do not despise an Edomite, for the Edomites are related to you. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country.", for someone to go forward and call them devils?

You cannot call someone a devil and not despise them, lest you do not despise the devil. Love be in your hearts, this we can all agree on. Jesus loves us very much, as did Moses love his people very much even though Moses and YHWH knew they were a stiff necked people. If you are truly a descendant of Abraham you would do the deeds of Abraham, not go around boasting and telling everyone else that they are going to hell.

This is why it is logical to understand that those who have not seen and yet believe are blessed! His own chosen people saw and still chose to make a god out of their earrings and such (a golden calf). Why? Because they wanted a god that could not see and hear so they could do whatever they wanted (chaos, sin, destruction). Don't play the fool. There is a God and He knows the number of the hairs on every head. He knows and looks at the inside of the vessel of the heart no matter how much you clean the outside.

No one in Christ Jesus should reject a brother who comes to their house saying, "Peace be with this house".

Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!

Parents in Orange County, California may not opt their children out of lessons related to gender identity or sexual orientation, according to a memorandum written by the school district’s general counsel.

“Parents who disagree with the instructional materials related to gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation may not excuse their children from this instruction,” read the memorandum from Ronald Wenkart to the Orange County Board of Education.

A school district spokesman confirmed the authenticity of the memorandum sent to us by a parent.

“However, parents are free to advise their children that they disagree with some or all of the information presented in the instructional program and express their views on these subjects to their children,” the attorney wrote.

His analysis was included in a March 29 memorandum that was supposed to be a comprehensive legal review of the California Healthy Youth Act.

The legislation requires school districts to provide students with comprehensive sexual health education. The law mandates that schools “teach about gender, gender expression, gender identity, and the harm of negative gender stereotypes.”

According to the law, students can be excused from the comprehensive sexual health education portion of the law. But it’s what kids are not exempt from that has parents concerned.

The school district’s general counsel said that exemption does not apply to “instructions, materials or programming that discusses gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, relationships, or family and does not discuss human reproductive organs and their functions.”

Perhaps even more alarming is the belief that school districts and the California General Assembly knows what’s best for school children. From Patch.com:

“The courts have held that parents do not have the constitutional rights to override the determinations of the state legislature or the school district as to what information their children will be provided in the public school classroom,” the memorandum read.

Allow me to be blunt – the idea that parents do not have the constitutional right to determine what is best for their child is downright evil. Yes, evil.

Our nation’s public schools have been turned into indoctrination centers by a gang of radical, sex and gender revolutionaries. Our education system has been taken hostage.

A charter school in San Antonio apologized Thursday after a teacher's assignment asked to list the positive and negative aspects of slavery a day earlier, Fox 29 San Antonio reported.

The only slightly positive aspect of slavery is that all civilization were unfortunately built on the dirty back of slavery. It's a hard pill to swallow. The reality of it is that there still is sex slavery and other types of slavery still happening in our world. Maybe she should have been more clear.

Prayer Requests / Pray for the Chinese people.
« on: April 20, 2018, 01:58:46 AM »
Christians in China are being forced to adhere to revised regulations on religion that were implemented in February which has led to strict government controls on their everyday lives, and have been warned about a "red line" they must not cross.

The Religious Affairs Bureau of Huiji district have been ordering all youth to leave church mass, with local officials blocking children from entering houses of worship in both Henan's Shangqiu and Anyang dioceses.

In China now "It is an offence for any organizations or individuals to guide, support, permit and condone minors to believe in religions or participate in religious activities,"

Chinese believers have said that they are pleading for prayers regarding the new rules and the ongoing church crosses demolition campaign, which have targeted both officially sanctioned churches and underground congregations.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. –  Authorities say a Florida teen fatally has shot his girlfriend's parents during an argument.

A Miami-Dade police news release says the shooting occurred Friday morning at a Homestead trailer park.

Police say the 19-year-old man shot his 17-year-old girlfriend's mother, 35-year-old Deborah Ramos-Arce and the mother's boyfriend, 31-year-old David Fluitt.

The release says a 911 caller said someone had been shot at the house, and both teens were there when police arrived. Officials say four children, ages 1 to 10, were in the home at the time of the shooting.

No charges were immediately reported.

A West Virginia woman accused of beheading her boyfriend allegedly shouted during her arrest that police officers "have to take me back and let me get my heads."

Roena Cheryl Mills, 41, was arrested last week in connection with the murder of Bo White, who was found dead inside of a residence in Lerona, WVSN-TV reported.

Mills appeared at a competency hearing on Monday in which a judge ruled she needed further evaluation. A court-ordered mental evaluation is scheduled for Wednesday to determine if Mills can stand trial, according to the West Virginia MetroNews.

Law enforcement officials were called to an area on April 1 where they discovered Mills, who was allegedly covered in blood and with a glove on her hand.

The 41-year-old reportedly told deputies that she was cut after being thrown through a glass door, and gave authorities a false name.

Mills was allegedly "combative" during her arrest, according to WVSN, and when in the deputies' car, reportedly said: "You have to take me back and let me get my heads."

Later that day, officials responded to a call about a homicide, where they found a man, identified as White, decapitated inside of his house. Authorities reportedly found a body part of White's in a wooded area nearby.

Mercy County Prosecutor George Sitler told the MetroNews that "according to the complaint, this was a decapitation homicide. That's how it appears."

White's father reportedly told deputies his son and Mills were dating.

Mills has been charged with second-degree murder and, according to jail records, is being held at the Southern Regional Jail on a $210,000 cash only bond.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after allegedly killing his father with a butter knife and removing one of his eyeballs which officers later recovered from the floor of their Philadelphia home.

Preston Lonnberg-Lane, 30, was arrested for first-degree murder in the disturbing death of his 74-year-old father, Thomas Lane, District Attorney for Montgomery County said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the press release, a 911 call was made at approximately 4:45 a.m. on March 27 by the suspect saying he needed police help at his home in Lansdale, a suburb of Philadelphia.

Police responded arrived on scene only to find the man’s father “semi-conscious in the bedroom with a traumatic eye avulsion and apparent stab wound to his head, neck and arm.”

An investigation by Montgomery County Detectives and Lansdale Police led officials to believe that Lonnberg-Lane attacked his father with a butter knife. Officers recovered his father's eyeball from the floor.

A U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan has proposed a plan to arm homeless people with shotguns in a bid to reduce crime.

Brian Ellison, a Libertarian candidate who is expected to be the party’s candidate in the upcoming midterm elections, said homeless people are often at risk of becoming victims of violent crime and one way to prevent that is by providing them with firearms.

He would be challenging Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow for the U.S. Senate seat in November, if he wins the Libertarian Party’s candidate.

Ellison told the Guardian that although he thinks pistols for homeless people would be ideal, due to stringent gun laws, shotguns are the only alternative for them.
