How can God be grieved for his own creation and then decide to destroy it like this? Hasn't he been aware of everything since the exact beginning? It sounded so weird to read how God felt and took this decision kinda at the moment knowing about this. If someone could help I'd be thankful.

Where did the Giants come from? There are other Bible commentators who speculate the sons of God were really Fallen Angels who bred with the women and made the giants.

You know Fr. Mike, I get annoyed when priests always pray for new vocations to the priesthood but almost never pray for new Catholic Marriages.

Like where do you think the priests will come from without Catholic marriages?

The church needs to pray for more priests AND for more marriages at Mass.

Father, I started this Bible in a year yesterday 6/6/22 and I have done days 1,2, & 3 and getting ready to do day 4. I can't seem to get enough of it. I want to read as much as my time allows everyday. Thank you so much for this podcast. God surely smiles down on you and is very pleased with you.

I have been enjoying this series especially as I rebuild my relationship with God after too long an absence. I never felt alone but failed to give thanks for all my blessings. Clarification on something in these chapters. Are all women born of Cain’s line? And men of Seth’s? I understand the reason the bible only follows Seth’s line as that is Jesus’s and the New Testament resolves all the questions the Old Testament posses but I am stuck on the idea that all women are of Cain. Can you please point me (anyone) to some clarity of that idea. Thank you. 💕

Fr. Mike: Please address the issue of how humanity multiplied if Adam and Eve had only two sons?

Also, having suggested how important genealogies are, can you please comment on the similar sons in both the Cainite and Sethite threads of humanity:

1. Cain- Cainan
In the Cainite line, there is Cain, son of Adam.
In the Sethite line, there is Cainan, grandson of Seth- Seth who was made in the image and likeness of Adam.

2. Enoch
In the Cainite line, Cain’s son is Enoch.
In the Sethite line, there is also Enoch, son of Jared. The Sethite Enoch was ‘taken by God.’

3. Lamech
In the Cainite line there is Lamech who took two wives.(Fr. Mike, you singled out Lamech’s polygamy as being an example of the evil of the Cainite line).
In the Sethite line, by contrast, there is also a Lamech who fathered Noah. Noah was a “righteous” man (like St. Joseph) and “blameless in his generations.”

So in a way, the Cainite and Sethite threads mirror each other.

The threads of humanity mirror each other even to the extent that the daughters of men (Cainite line) mirrored (married) the sons of God (Sethite line).

What’s the significance of recording the unbelievable years Adam, Seth and their descendants lived? How did the ancients calculate age?

Not sure if this will get answered but what if you marry someone who you know you should not have married. Does God allow a person to correct that divorce? Or should the person stay married? If abuse is involved is it ok to divorce? Or would separation be more acceptable to God?

The mention of the Nephilim has always bothered me. The passages clearly talk about the sons of God and the sons of Cain as separate groups so why is there mentioned the Nephilim? And why would the nephilim, if they are descendants of Cain , be considered heroes of old and renowned?

We can choose to walk with God regardless of what others choose.

Fr Mike, my understanding of the Nephelims, in the context of chapter 6, was that they were beings resulted from demons who breed the daughters of human beings and bore their sons – the Nephelims, the giants that the Israelites referred to that walked on the earth around those times-.
My Catholic Spanish Bible talks of these giants as well. “ there were giants on the earth as well as later, when the sons of God had intercourse with the daughters of human beings, who bore them sons they were the heroes of old, the men of renown”

That’s why I understood that because of these beings “The earth was corrupt in the view of God and full of lawlessness. When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals had corrupted their ways on earth, God said to Noah: I see that the end of all mortals have come, for the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I am going to destroy them with the earth”.
Can you please give me some feedback? I know many people who also agrees on this interpretation.

Imagine what the planet must of smelled like after the flood. If everything but 2 was dead, the planet would be a giant stinky graveyard. What about fish and birds? Did they all die or wait it out.

I actually don't think that the children/daughters of Cain could by themselves create/invent/conjure up a book of spells/curses to control the people groups without any downloading/teaching from another entity who knows/understands the secrets/mysteries of the creation. So, I do believe that the Book of Enoch reveals some information that has been lost, covered up, pushed aside to keep people in the dark/ignorant.
It may be that those fallen angels who descended from above took the "daughters" of Cain as their wives and brought about the giants/mighty ones on the earth.
Their seed continues in the ones who are power hungry, who only desire name/fame/socio economic status, and who want to dominate others by exploiting, enslaving, deceiving, afflicting, controlling minds, emotions and the psychological makeup of people through witchcraft, sorcery, spells, etc.to persecute, dehumanize, oppress those who love God and want to serve Him and worse now than ever as they come through the surveillance screens, staring and glaring and filled with hate and envy, at us who love God.

You must be reading a Protestant Bible. I use only the Douay Rheims Bible, which comes directly from St. Jeromes Latin Vulgate, translated directly from the original texts. What you are reading isn't Psalms 135. ~ EARLY HISTORY

Pope Damasus assembled the first list of books of the Bible at the Roman Council in 382 A.D. He commissioned St. Jerome to translate the original Greek and Hebrew texts into Latin, which became known as the Latin Vulgate Bible and was declared by the Church to be the only authentic and official version, in 1546. The Douay Rheims translation is the ONLY English translated directly form the Latin Vulgate, which is St. Jeromes Latin Vulgate. I never use any version from Heretics who hate the Catholic Church.

Thank you again Father. Praying for you and everyone listening. I am a Catholic married to a Mormon, who is very supportive and our son from my first marriage was also raised Catholic.

Since Genesis is written in Hebrew poetry and although everything is historical but cannot be taken literally how come there is not a more detailed explanation on what really happened when Noah's son found him naked and the brothers covered him and didn't want to see his father in that conditioned. Fr Mike said that it was becase the son slept with his mother but in the scripture there is no inference to that specifically actually I thought that Noah's reaction was because at that historical time maybe there was a lack of respect just to walk in the tent without knocking sort of speak but the fathers reaction was harsh. On the other hand he was the one who got drunk not the son. Again if is Hebrew poetry why specifically the theologians think that this is what happened and not other reason other that the one Fr Schmidt mentioned because it would be an assumption then.
