— A crowd of around 350 motorcyclists rode from Goldsboro to Wilson showing support for the family of Cannon Hinnant, a boy who was shot and killed this month in Wilson.

Hundreds attended the motorcycle rally on Saturday afternoon. The bikers started on Elm Street in Goldsboro, drove to the courthouse at Wilson to meet up with more bikers, and turned back around to end back at Elm Street in Goldsboro.

After the ride, bikers enjoyed barbeque together. All the proceeds from the cookout will go to Eastern North Carolina’s Make A Wish Foundation in Hinnant’s name as requested by the family, according to social media event posts.

Hinnant’s family said that their son was on his bike when he was killed.

Darius Sessoms was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Hinnant.

Friends, family and even strangers gathered to remember the life of the 5-year-old boy at a vigil in Kenly on Wednesday. As of Saturday, people have donated more than $850,000 to a GoFundMe for Cannon’s family.

According to social media posts and Facebook events, more motorcycle rallies are planned in honor of Cannon’s life in the coming weeks.
