Yes, there are many contemporary Christian songs out there that have really helped me. But to me, the best ever Christian songs are the ones my Russian brothers and sisters wrote during the time of persecution, when they were taken off to Siberia, shot, tortured, thrown in prison, horrible mutilated (my grandpa was killed by the KGB). Those songs are so powerful, it is nearly impossible to not sing them without crying. The contemporary Christian music, to me, gets my emotions astir, and sometimes helps my spirit, but the best IMO are the old hymns our brothers and sisters sang to get through…
