  1. I can’t speak for the hardcover, but I just bought the bonded leather edition, and it has a sewn binding.
The information inside is incredible. Best study bible I own, hands down.

  2. I TOO LOVE THE OPEN BIBLE. I BOUGHT ONE IN 1983 A BURGUNDY LEATHER ABOUT THE SIZE FOR PERSONAL USE. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS I LOST IT SOMEHOW I LOOKED FOR IT FOR EVER TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE BEEN HEARTBROKEN. I
    TRIED TO FIND ANOTHER
ONE BUT THEY SAID THEY QUITE PUBLISHING THEM. I FINALLY FOUND A HARDBACK BUT DONE LIKE A HARDBACK. I KEEP SEARCHING FINALLY FOUND ONE COULD ONLY get a black one and larger than the one i had. it was bonded leather and not real leather. in glad at least i found one because its one of if NOT THE BEST STUDY BIBLES EVER MADE.

  3. I too prefer not to read personal opinions when I read a bible. I detest footnotes and commentaries in my bible. I can look in stand alone commentaries if I would like to see what others have thought and written about certain passages. But I want my bible free from those things.
The open bible in question has none of these.
The study guide mentioned is simply a list of scriptures upon which Christian doctrine is based. It does not interpret meanings It is just a list of scripture.
I understand that a person who is interested in a bible but is not a christian would not find this helpfull unless they wanted to know what christian doctrine is. So the bottom line is it does not give personal opinions on what scriptures mean. It does however have maps and a concordance and other aids to find scriptures on a given topic but you have to find them and read and interpret those scriptures for yourself. I find it odd that someone would take the time to find the most unbiased bible with study helps but no footnotes and then find reasons to complain about it. If you want a bible with no tools or aids like dictionaries or maps then you should just buy a bible, not a study bible.

  4. It says at 0:30 "Let Scripture Speak for Itself", and then it immediately goes to the paid actress and then actor talking about the guides and study aids.  That's not letting scripture speak for itself; that's relying on the interpretations of the people who put the book together.  If you really want to know what the New Testament says, a basic class in New Testament Greek is a great place to start, since the Greek of the New Testament is far more reliable than a biased translation.

  5. I love the Open Bible,in my opinion every Christian should have one in their home it has blessed me in my studies for many years but I have to say I am very disappointed in the direction of quality of the book its self.I recently purchased a new Open bible and was very shocked at the quality of the leather and not only that but the binding is glued and no longer stitched. When comparing it to my older 80s edition it fails on all points leather, paper, binding, glue, and ink,the ink is so much darker and bold in the older edition.I also own a collector edition made in 97 and even though its a glued binding still is leaps and bounds above this new one.Honestly I can not see how this could be considered a 60 to 90 dollar bible the price varies depending on where you go,fortunately I found mine for $20 on eBay cause I wouldn't pay much more.WHY,have you decided to do this to one of the most loved editions in your company,to me it shows no respect to the fans who have payed money all these years and made you money in sales by pointing people to the Open Bible.Unless things change I will never buy another Open Bible leather bound edition and can only point people to find an older edition used or new and ir a hardback if they can.I hope someone who has influence within the company will read this and wake up the powers that be,I hope they're not scraping the Open bible but from this last edition I'm a bit worried this could be its final printing and what a horrible way to go out.
