The imagery and symbolism of marriage is applied to Christ and the body of believers known as the church. The church is comprised of those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and have received eternal life. Christ, the Bridegroom, has sacrificially and lovingly chosen the church to be His bride (Ephesians 5:25–27). Just as there was a betrothal period in biblical times during which the bride and groom were separated until the wedding, so is the bride of Christ separate from her Bridegroom during the church age. Her responsibility during the betrothal period is to be faithful to Him (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:24). At the rapture, the church will be united with the Bridegroom and the official “wedding ceremony” will take place and, with it, the eternal union of Christ and His bride will be actualized (Revelation 19:7–9; 21:1-2).

In the eternal state, believers will have access to the heavenly city known as New Jerusalem, also called “the holy city” in Revelation 21:2 and 10. The New Jerusalem is not the church, but it takes on some of the church’s characteristics. In his vision of the end of the age, the apostle John sees the city coming down from heaven adorned “as a bride,” meaning that the city will be gloriously radiant and the inhabitants of the city, the redeemed of the Lord, will be holy and pure, wearing white garments of holiness and righteousness. Some have misinterpreted verse 9 to mean the holy city is the bride of Christ, but that cannot be because Christ died for His people, not for a city. The city is called the bride because it encompasses all who are the bride, just as all the students of a school are sometimes called “the school.”

Believers in Jesus Christ are the bride of Christ, and we wait with great anticipation for the day when we will be united with our Bridegroom. Until then, we remain faithful to Him and say with all the redeemed of the Lord, “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

  1. Okay – but there are SEMANTICS involved here. Many people get HUNG UP on certain words that are meant to be SYMBOLIC, and not taken so literally. Those who belong to Christ have been called several different things – but they are all the same group. We have been called His BRIDE – but MEN also belong to this group. We have been called His SHEEP – but we have no wool. We have been called His CHURCH, but we are not buildings. We have been called His BODY, but we were not nailed to the cross. We are His EKKLESIA, which means "called out ones." Those who have been called out – are SYMBOLIC of His body, His sheep, His bride, His church. We are indwelled by His Holy Spirit. We will be redeemed to Him at the rapture and receive glorified bodies. All the people who remain on the earth are NONE OF HIS. Those who will be KILLED for their testimony of Jesus and refusing the mark of the beast (tribulation saints) will be INCLUDED to this group at the 2nd Coming.

  2. Jesus only has one bride, and it's not the church. "In that Jerusalem will be saved, and SHE will be called, Lord Our Righteousness", Jeremiah 33:16. Don't be deceived. She is Daughter Zion! In Psalm 86:16, David clearly points out who "she" is. "Lord be merciful to the servant and the son of YOUR handmaid! There isn't one place that calls the church the Bride of Christ! She is the one in Psalm 45. She is Lady wisdom in Proverbs 8. It is a dreadful thing to add false doctrine to the BIBLE. Revelation 21 clearly points out who the wife of the Lamb is. She is Holy Jerusalem. And, in Galatians, 4:26, "Jerusalem from above is the mother of us all".
Jesus speaks of "HER" coming in Matthew 11:18-20… Jesus talks about how John the Baptist was seen as the devil, then Jesus speaks of himself, saying they saw him as a sinner eating with tax collector's, and right after that in verse 19, Jesus says, "But wisdom will be justified by HER children". Only those who have ears to hear what the spirit says will be the ones invited to the wedding feast, hence, why it says 7 times in Revelation, "Blessed are those who have ears to hear, and listen to what the spirit says". John even says that the "church" isn't the Bride, but the friend of the brudegroom, John 3:29, " the friend of the bridegroom waits and listens for him".
The Bride is ONE woman, and she is the prophesized Elisha to come and get everything ready for Jesus' return. Those who refuse her, don't belong to her, just like Jesus said in Matthew 11:19. She will be justified by her children. Those who reject her are not of God. Be ready cause she is coming out of the wilderness very soon. Her coming is going to reveal the corruption in the church, hence the "falling away" in the church that is written in Thessalonians.

  3. Ha. So you're calling our King gay and a pedophile and a polygamist if you SERIOUSLY believe that nonsense that you get to marry Him. He is the last Adam. She is the last Eve. ONE WOMAN. God YHWH is not about to allow His only son Yahusha who you probably call by that pagan name Jesus, marry a bunch of humans. This is a GOD we are speaking of. He has to married His own kind. Use your freaking head. If you're chosen you are the body but as of now you have no idea where you actually stand in Their kingdom. Incredibly arrogant to assume so especially to assume to be His bride. Very insulting. The people who know the Truth know this. You clearly do not. You might want to find out why bc this is your soul. You are responsible for it.
