Fascinating chat. i noticed that, as happens so often, the question as posed in the video's title is effectively answered by Eric wih "Dude I have no idea". This is quite literally the only answer Ive ever heard atheists give (including Richard Dawkins). Lloyd decides that he doesnt like the idea of a deity because the universe we live in would therefore be "far more messed up and complicated". Guys this is village-atheist stuff.

Some evidence would be nice.

I consider Carl Sagan an extraordinary scientist. Dr Sagan made the quote "extraordinary claims needs extraordinary evidence" popular. There are a few problem with this quote. The word "extraordinary" is a subjective statement. It is an opinion. Opinions cannot be used as evidence. So my question to you is why do atheists , like Carl Sagan and the person in this video, become subjective when it comes to God? I have a relationship with God and it seems that I am more objective than atheists when it comes to God.

I'm sorry but why go into all the handwriting and paper note idea at all… What would convince me is nothing subtle, it would have to be something that leaves no doubt that whatever or whomever I am meeting at that moment would be inexplicably far superior in intelligence and ability over even the smartest human beings… I would need to see the entity in full form and function, whatever form that may be, and it would need to be able to convince me that it is "the Lord God of the Christian's" as opposed to some galactic star hopping hooligan who has realized Earth is inhabited by beings able to think and understand his existance yet to stupid to see that he is just a galactic grifter preying on gullible genetic simpletons like humans…. So just a lil proof.. that's all..😅😂🤣😂😅😂🤣

Many of the answers in the comments state it clearly: "Any kind of evidence would do".
That's not cynical or mockery. The bible has a big problem to prove that its narrative is literally true. We know that it was written by people and that the content stems from superstitious ancient people who likely mixed wishful thinking with reality. Eye-witness reports are the least reliable source of evidence and eye-witness accounts that were written down 50 or more years after the described events are practically worthless.
Therefore no modern legal court could accept the "supernatural" parts of the bible as facts.

I like Eric's arguments, but I can't stand his mannerisms. They appear as if he thinks his shit don't stink. Am I alone here? Am I projecting? Maybe he naturally behaves in that manner, and it appears coincidentally as if acts self righteous?

I would offer this to “God(s)”. Send a message to everyone’s minds saying the exact same thing. Something clear, unambiguous and complicated enough that it would be hard to attribute to coincidence. Everyone who has the ability to communicate would be able to say what they heard in their mind. And then this could be followed by an event that all people would be expecting.

Now. If I could present this effort to convince the world, certainly the all powerful and all knowing being could come up with something as good or better for making itself known.

I am a lifelong atheist of 60+ years and my answer to the question : "What Evidence for God Do Atheists Need?" is simply : "I don't need any evidence at all."

The theists are making the claim for Yahweh's existence.
The atheist does not believe the claim
The burden of proof is on the theist.

Any evidence will work, so long as atheist can deny it so as not to force there hand.

My go-to is "What would convince you that Thor, Zeus, Ganesh or Ra are real? Or the divinity of Mohammed, the Pope or Joseph Smith? Short answer is just "or Santa Claus?"

Any evidence would be a good start, so far there's none at all.

I'm an atheist but same time I will say I don't like when people say there's no evidence for a religion I just would rather them say that there is no good evidence for religion that has been presented to them as that is a claim that can be supported by showing them the evidence and them saying why they don't consider it good evidence

John, I think you feel the need for the "bigger than yourself" feeling. "God" is the worst way to fill that need, imo. Try art, science or community service. Teach someone something, help someone, make something, learn something, these are all bigger than us little humans and they are what I believe many religious people actually want. We are the architects of our existence, be part of the big universe, do or learn.
