We live for the resume, but we are left with the eulogy. Goals are good. Accomplishments are amazing. But at the end of our lives, the Who we have become will be vastly more important than the What that we have done.

  1. Hello, I'm wondering if I, a person with deep faith can take the place of a priest at a funeral of a loved one. The funeral director said my loved one won't go to heaven without a member of clergy but I don't see any reference to this in the Bible. I left work to care for my loved one.We just don't have the money to pay big business costs of a funeral. I'd really appreciate your help. Thx in advance

  2. Father Mike, you speak of our eulogy saying that after our life is lived all that's left is what people say about us, i.e. our eulogy. The Catholic Church believes we can get to Heaven by our works which according to God's written word is NOT true and now you're saying it matters what people say about us /about our life after we're gone. Another flawed statement…bcuz it only matters what Jesus says about us when we stand in judgement before him. I think it better that you open The Bible and preach from it. When I was Catholic I was never taught The Bible..but PRAISE BE TO GOD, I'm learning it now. And as I learn I remember how full you church was with psychology and philosophy man's "wisdom" not God's. So sad. I pray for all my family and friends and all Catholics that The Holy Spirit remove their spiritual blindness. 🙏✝️🙏✝️🙏

  3. Michael, I care about you and as an ex-Catholic I ask for you to be very cautious what the Roman Catholic church teaches and the traditions. Rely on Holy Spirit to guide you in prayer (not Mary) as HE helps us – this is His job. Romans 8:26-27:
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For be do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

    God bless you Michael

  4. The Bible has quite a bit to say about Mary and you can read this for yourself in the gospels, especially in Luke 1-3 and some in Matthew 1-3. But Scripture does not affirm what is believed about Mary by the Catholic church. She is not the mother of God, only the mother of the humanity of Christ. Mary is not a mediator between God and man, only Jesus is the mediator between God and man. “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5).

The Bible says nothing about Mary being ascended into heaven in a special way. She went to heaven as all do through faith in Christ as God’s Son who died for our sin, including Mary’s. Her conception was by the Holy Spirit, as explained in Matt. 1:20 and Luke 1:35, but other than this being a miracle work of the HS, we are given no details.

In Luke 1:28, she is called “favored one” (literally, “endowed or filled with grace”) but only in the sense that God, by grace chose her to be the human mother who would give birth to the Christ child. This same idea and word is used of all believers in Ephesians 1:6. To say any more than this is to add to what the text says and this is what Catholicism has done.

Mary is mentioned in other places in New Testament, but never in a way that supports her exaltation. (Bible.org)

  5. Saw this online:

"Jesus is not an agent of God, He is God that's why He can raise the dead, judge and give eternal life to those who love Him and eternal shame to those who hate Him or do not believe in Him. God can't give His glory to another, Jesus is not an agent or subordinate, He is equal to God.

And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt.Daniel 12:2

Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. John 5:28

Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. John 5:25

For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our King. He will save us.Isaiah 33:32

Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son.John 5:22

I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not give My glory to another or My praise to idols.Isaiah 42:8

that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.John 5:23

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. John 14:1"

  6. John 6:39:
And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that everyone who He gave me – I shall lose none of him, but rather, I shall raise him ON THE LAST DAY

    John 6:40:
And this is the will of Him who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him has eternal life, and I shall raise him ON THE LAST DAY

    John 6:44:
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I shall raise him ON THE LAST DAY

    John 6:54:
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise him ON THE LAST DAY

    John 5:25-27:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, WHEN the DEAD SHALL HEAR THE VOICE OF THE SON OF GOD: and they that hear SHALL LIVE . For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

  7. I have listened to this homily twice now, emphasizing it's importance. Thank you Fr. Mike for your bold, plain-talk wisdom. You and the Hallow app. have awaken my need to grow close to God. Then there is a another matter within our Holy Religion that appears to be the Devil working through Pope Francis, with some of his questionable appointments, but particularly the tamping down of the Traditional Latin Mass. I appreciate that you have your primary vocations, as I have been told by the Ascension folks, but if you would or can, please, I pray, address this sad situation that feels like it is gaining momentum and dividing our church like no other time in history. God above all, Amen.

  8. “We need to be the party of nationalism and I’m a Christian, and I say it proudly, we should be Christian nationalists.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) “I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk – that’s not in the Constitution.” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) Lauren Boebert calls for laws to enforce "biblical citizenship training" in our schools.

“We’re not bending the knee to the two percent anymore,” said Andrew Torba, founder of the right-wing-friendly social platform Gab, referring to Jewish people in the United States. Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser, told a Christian gathering last November, “If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion. One nation under God and one religion under God.” The 10-year-old Ohio girl who crossed state lines to receive an abortion in Indiana should have carried her pregnancy to term and would be required to do so under a model law written for state legislatures considering more restrictive abortion measures, according to the general counsel for the National Right to Life. Former President Donald Trump said during a speech on Saturday that "Americans kneel to God" alone, as the concept of Christian nationalism continues to gain traction among conservatives. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is attended a rally in Pennsylvania with state Sen. Doug Mastriano. Mastriano has praised Andrew Torba, the founder of Gab and a self-described Christian nationalist. Desantis is the most insidious of them all because he knows better.

The Trump-Republican Taliban and the majority of Christians want to force their delusions and hatred upon everyone! When the Civil War starts will you choose America or Theocracy?

  9. Thank you Father . Great profound message. Suggestion. Do not cut out the reading of the Gospel. As much as your homilies are very good , what matter most is the Gospel .. it talks to everybody different . Do not cut it out from these videos . Your word is not more important than the Word of God… watch if your ego is trying to take over in these videos . Good bless.

  10. As a priest, with all of your Theological and Scriptural background, training, education, etc., your Sunday sermon/homily should impart insights into Christ and the Gospel rather than being a superficial book report on ‘The Road To Character’ by David Brooks.
