Lydia Oakeson of One Voice Children’s Choir sings “Who Would Imagine a King,” originally recorded by Whitney Houston for the 1996 film “The Preacher’s Wife.”

In this song, Mary reflects on the visit she received from the angel, Gabriel, who told her that she had “found favor with God,” and that she would have a boy who would be the Son of God (Luke 1:30). Every child sent to every mother is a precious gift from God. But this child, who was to be named Jesus, was to be the Savior of the world, king of kings, and God’s greatest gift to mankind. I love this song because it speaks to the message of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ Light The World initiative this year to “give as he gave,” inviting us to follow the example of the Savior Jesus Christ, “the light of the world” (John 8:12). Jesus grew up in a loving home, and could have become a shepherd, a fisherman, or a carpenter. But he knew of his special mission to spread the word of God, save people from their sins by making the ultimate sacrifice, and bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. He gave his life for us so that we could be saved, the greatest gift of all.

  2. Wow, Lydia! That was beautiful and amazing! It's hard to believe that less than a year ago, you put out your first music video on here. I thought you sounded really good then. But now, my goodness! You have come a long way in such a short time, and I am very impressed and just love what you are able to with your singing. I think you are so much more confident when you are singing and it shows. There seems to be much more to you than even I had realized. I can't wait to see what is yet to come from you! You are incredible!

  3. Who would imagine a king

Mommies and Daddy’s always believe that there little angels are special indeed and you could grow up to be any thing but who would imagine a king

Shepherd or teacher is what you could be or maybe a fisherman out on the sea or maybe a carpenter building things but who would imagine a king

It was so clear when the wise men arrived and the angels were singing your name that the world would be different cause you were alive that heaven stood still to proclaim

One day an angel said quietly that soon they would bring something special to me and of all of the wonderful gifts he could bring who would imagine who imagine who would imagine a king
